When did Bush turn Fascist?

Recently, there have been more than enough outlandish accusations from the wrong side of the spectrum as well as the common, uneducated people about President George Bush and his standing as a fascist. Disgusting cries of, “He’s a despot!” “He’s a tyrant!” “The United States is Nazi Germany, and Bush is Hitler.” Some even go as far as accusing conservatives in general of being fascists. Last time I checked Bush isn’t a militaristic dictator, our government still has checks and balances, and the lives of the vast majority of Americans aren’t synonymous with hell. If you’re a liberal that believes this, you could and probably would make the unwise argument that both the House and the Senate grant whatever Bush wants because he’s got some conspiratorial power, but that is just another poor argument. That argument also fails to fit the definition of truth. Take Bush’s opinion about the Dubai Ports deal for example. Bush wanted the ports deal to go through because only the management of the ports would go to the UAE run company, and we would still control security. Congress disagrees probably because they figured that hiring the Dubai company would indirectly fund Hamas, as well as other terrorist organizations, would a fascist’s decision be overridden? Absolutely not. By definition, legislation and fascism cannot exist together, and thus, defeating the argument completely.

It could be argued though, that fascism would be the preferential treatment of one religion, while another is vilified, much like the double standard with Islam and Christianity. When a conservative gives criticism of Islam, that is unacceptable, bigoted, and evil, yet all signs of Christianity in the public square are being removed (In the exact same fashion as the Nazi party by the way), that is fascism.

For you people out there who actually believe Bush is a tyrannical dictator, and the citizens of this great nation are so oppressed that we are stripped of basic rights, I urge you to send me an e-mail and attempt to justify your absurd opinion.
